There has been many instances there were a lot of transfers many expected to see but never came through. This article was written based on the opinions of others from the various social media platforms, talking about transfer they would have loved happening but rather ended not happening. These are few of such transfers;
Luis Suarez to Arsenal. Suarez was about living Liverpool and Arsenal went forward bidding more than 1 Euro money paid for him from Barcelona. Suarez in Liverpool, made 133 appearances and scored 82 goals. Arsenal was then battling for a Champions League spot in the league but failed to get the services of the striker who moved to the Camp Nou to have a better partnership with Messi and Neymar.
Ronaldo to Manchester City. This deals was almost done when Cristiano decided to leave Juventus. But who knows, he joined the rival club, Manchester United.
Lionel Messi to Manchester City. Would you have imagined Messi joining Pep Guardiola in Man City? Barcelona, had already announced the departure of Messi who then became a free agent to join any club. Even though, City, over the past seasons has been dominating the English league, the addition of Messi wouldn’t be bad. But he joined his old friend, Neymar Junior in Paris Saint Germain (PSG) in the Ligue 1 (France).
Mbappe to Arsenal. Another surprise? Don’t be, Kylian Mbappe was actually offered to Arsenal to sign but Arsene Wenger then, wasn’t ready to give that young boy at that time the chance to showcase his talents. He was sent to Monaco, and now, he’s one of the best youngest football players in the continent. Currently plays for PSG.
Eden Hazard and Willian to Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs had approached Hazard, but the player was willing to move to the Blue Londoners who was in the Champions League and also won it with them in 2012. As for Willian, he had already agreed to join Spurs, ready for his medicals. But the last minute call from Chelsea, changed everything. He later signed for Chelsea.
Neymar Jr. to Chelsea. Chelsea needed wingers after Timo Werner leaving to RB Leipzig, and Callum Hudson-Odoi on a loan movement to Bayern Leverkusen, the blues needed a replacement for their outgoing players. Neymar was linked to at least have a reunion with his former team mate and coach. English papers were also reporting on a possible sale of the player as there was a fallout between him an Mbappe. Tuchel had also preferred not to use Pulisic and Ziyech and trusted them a little to deliver.
Sergio Kun Aguero to Liverpool. Ideally, Liverpool never asked for the services of Liverpool. But instead of paying more than 3 million Euros in January for Andy Carroll, they could have waited to sign Aguero in the same transfer (it was just 4 months wait). Meanwhile, Natcional demanded anything little as 2.5 million Euro to get him. He then joined Atletico Madrid.
John Terry to Forest. John had joined Forest on loan from Chelsea, thus, 2000/2001 season. Platt during that time offered for a swap between Terry and Prutton of which Platt didn’t agree to the deal.
Ronaldo to Arsenal. Now that Ronaldo is a free agent, will Arteta sign him? Ronaldo has already liked the current project of the North Londons and has tipped them of winning the 2022/23 premier league season. Maybe, he may have wanted to join them.
