Is Martin Odegaard living to his hype?

The Arsenal captain is one of the players with many admiration from other European clubs. The 23 year old Norwegian midfielder has played for Stromgodset, Real Madrid, Heerenveen (loan), Vitesse (loan), Real Sociedad (loan).

He joined the Gunners on a season long loan from Real Madrid last season and joined them permanently in the 2022/2023 season.
The €60 million Euro player plays as an attacking midfielder. And currently, the captain for Arteta.

He has a good vision and possess a great mentality on the ball. He has the ability to score goals and assists as well. At his age, he still has the potential to be at the top level playing football for a very long time. Rarely, he’s the type who help those around him plays better.

After having little to no time to showcase his talent in Madrid, many pundits thought he was going to flop in Arsenal as they doubted his ability to fit in the set up Arsenal. They were also not adding quality players to their already squad and as they were known as a big club in London, they weren’t considered as a title contender in the league.

Even though, the likes of Thomas Partey, Saliba, Gabriel Martinelli and Jesus are few most important players in the Gunners squad, it’s obvious you can’t take Odegaard out. His presence are key, a proper traditional number 10 who likes to press a lot. He mostly make progressive passes to the other players making a transition from the middle of the field to the opponent half fast. A world class creative midfielder and a playmaker. He’s so efficient and brings others into the game. Very beautiful on the ball with his touches. He creates freedom for himself and tries to have a great linkup with his forwards.

He’s had 6 goals, 2 assists added to his contributions in the 2022 Premier League season. And currently, with 14 matches played, Arsenal are on top of the league table with a 37 points and followed by Manchester City, 35, a clear 5 points difference.

Martin has lived up to his expectations and can be likened to Mesut Ozil. And Odegaard if not in the team, may have an adverse effect on their performances. He has been excellent for them since his loan days till now. He actually found the club to have his best career. One thing you can’t take from him, he’s technically gifted and talented and a real definition of a baller. He’s really impressed and now, everyone at Arsenal loves him.
