The first match of the tournament will be played on Sunday, 20th November, 2022 between the host nation Qatar and Ecuador. With few days to go, we can’t wait to catch all the excitement the this World Cup will bring to us.
There are 32 national teams and 832 players representing their countries. Among these players, how many of them will have an extreme performance and how many will just give a below average performance (flop)? The article is looking at players we will watch out for as they are expected to give us overwhelming performances and there are others who will perform if not average, it will be below average.
Players to Watch Out For
Kim Min Jae. The player will play for the South Korea and we are expecting him to have a very good tournament. The 26 year old plays in the center back position and plays his club football for Napoli in Italy. He is good in tackles, passes, and the interception of balls. In the Serie A this season, he has had 14 appearances with 0 assists and 2 goals scored.
Miguel Almiron of Newcastle. The midfielder have 125 Premier league appearances with 17 goals and 4 assists. In October, 2022, he won the player of the month. He will be representing the Paraguay national team in the Qatar World Cup this year. His market value is €20.00 million.
Harry Maguire. Despite his dip of form in club side, Manchester United, Harry is expected to show good performances in the World Cup this time around. He has been playing well for England and this could be a reason why Southgate preferred him to others. He will definitely be the rock in the defense for the Three Lions.
Salisu Mohammed and Kudus. He is representing Ghana and plays his club football in Southampton in the English Premier League. He’s that big, fast, and has the ability to bully strikers. If given the opportunity to play, he will always be the standing out player in his team. The Ajax forward should also be watchful. He’s quick, and his ability to dribble past his opponents, and shoots to goal are his strengths. He has been used as a false nine (9) in the Ajax team this season and has produced good performances scoring goals including the one he scored against Liverpool at Anfield in the group stages of the Champions League.
Gabriel Jesus and Martinelli. Both in the Arsenal team have had good connections. They will both have good runs and will perform extremely well if asked to play.
Rafael Leao. An outstanding player everyone will want to watch. He has this season produced a good stats for his club side, AC Milan. In a 14 matches played in the Serie A, he has a combined of 10 goals contributions being that, 6 scored goals and 4 assists. He has also contributed in scoring a goal in the UEFA Champions League after playing 6 matches. Chelsea football club and other teams are already interested in him. His market value is €85 million. His best position is the forward left wing. There will certainly be a lot of scouts watching him in the tournament.
Eden Hazard. Hazard will try to rejuvenate his career after being a benchwarmer in Real Madrid. The Belgium captain, will have the best tournament, will score goals and give assists. The Eden we know will be back again so watch out!
Players to Flop
Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes. Ronaldo’s form going into the tournament is pretty bad same as Bruno. I don’t actually see the Ronaldo who usually carries the Portugal team. He will try but have strong struggles.
Harry Kane. Many will disagree with this but despite we tip him to flop, he will have a pretty good goals to score but it wouldn’t be enough for England to be kept in the tournament.
Jack Grealish. Jack hasn’t lived to an expectation after he left Aston Villa to Manchester City. He’s even seen not to be a starter in the English team. The overrated £100 million player wouldn’t be part of those to watch out for. He will even have a limited game play and will not be relied on that much.
Christian Pulisic. The American captain is seen to flop. It is even likely to pickup some injuries in the first two games to play. He will want to prove a point, but will that wouldn’t be enough.
